Andrew Hjulsager to KAA Gent

KVO reached an agreement with AA Gent on the transfer of Andrew Hjulsager. We thank Andrew for his contributions over the last two seasons and wish him every success at his new club.

Andrew Hjulsager came over from Spanish side Celta de Vigo in 2019. At the time he showed flashes of his intrinsic talent at times but he was still mainly held back by injuries, although there were some highlights too, just think of his goal in the spectacular 3-2 win against Anderlecht. Last season the Danish midfielder shook off the injury burden and became a regular in Alexander Blessin's team. With six goals and twelve assists, he was voted 'Player of the Season' by the fans. Next season he will try his luck at AA Gent.

Andrew Hjulsager: "I am grateful to KVO for giving me the opportunity to relaunch my career here. My first season was difficult, both for the club and personally, but last season I will never forget. It was an absolutely great season, unfortunately without a crowd in the stadium. I thank the supporters for their support and for awarding me the title of most deserving player. And of course I also thank all the teammates and staff, without them I would not have achieved this."

Executive President Gauthier Ganaye: Andrew was a reliable player for our club last season. That's why we did our best to convince him to prolong his stay at KVO. We didn't succeed in that intention, so one year before the end of his contract we had to make a deal with Gent. We wish him all the best for his future and will continue to focus our energy on building a competitive team."
