ANTON TANGHE STAYS LONGER AT KVO

Defender Anton Tanghe (23) signed a new contract with KV Oostende until 2026. His current contract expired after this season but now the West-Fleming will stay on the coast for three more years.

Anton Tanghe transferred in 2019 from the U23 reserves of Club Brugge and initially joined Kurt Bataille's U21 squad. However, during the 2019-2020 season he was transferred to the A-core and in January 2020 he made his first appearance on Standard's pitch. It would be his only playing minutes that season but the following season, under Alexander Blessin, he actually started the new season as a base player. He would prove to be a reliable pawn in the heart of the defense the entire season. Last season he was also a base player for most of the season. Meanwhile, the native of Roeselare played more than 50 games for KVO. He is now rewarded with a new contract.

Gauthier GanayeAnton Tanghe: "Two seasons ago, as a young player with no experience, he immediately got his chance in our team and he took it with both hands. It shows that we give young players the time and opportunities to develop further. Anton has done that with verve and it is therefore logical that we continue to work together. Meanwhile, Anton has gained quite some experience at the highest level. This new deal also means new responsibilities, we will expect more from him in terms of performance but also in terms of leadership.
In addition, he is a West-Fleming, which ensures a certain local anchoring. I am therefore very pleased that he will still be active here in the coming seasons."

Anton Tanghe: "I feel very comfortable in Ostend. They gave me a chance to play professional football and I am always grateful to the club for that. I am playing at the highest level, in my own region, and moreover together with some friends. What more could I want at this moment? So I'm very happy that I now have certainty about an extended stay at Oostende."
