EUROPE PLAY-OFFS - GAME DAY 4: KV OOSTENDE - KAA GENT 0 - 4

Before the match against Gent a number of players were honoured. Sakala played his hundredth game for KVO, while Hjulsager received the Puis/Verbiest trophy as most deserving player.

After a study round KVO came up through the infiltrating D'Haese who couldn't find a point of play. The resulting corner kick was clumsily hit against his own post by Bolat. The next chance was for Vandendriessche but his shot went wide. The visitors took the lead against the run of play when Bezus grazed Hubert with a lob (0-1).. Despite this early sacrifice KVO continued to combine well and to look for a goal. The industrious Boonen among others saw his shot go wide. The turning point of the match was the exclusion of Guillaume Hubert. After bad defending, the Ostend goalie was given red when he wrongly stopped Bezus on the edge of the sixteen. Ndicka was the child of the bill and had to make way for substitute goalkeeper Bram Castro. Gent smelled blood and pressed on. Ngadeu headed a corner kick just wide and Castro-Montes doubled the score (0-2).

The first chance after the break was for Gent, but Samoise's free-kick went wide, Yaremchuk saw his place-kick hit the post. The home team reacted through Sakala who saw his shot saved by Bolat. The coastal team was not spared from bad luck, as Odjidja's free kick was processed into Vandendriessche's own goal (0-3).. The home team did not relent and went in search of an honorary goal but the goal fell at the other end. Bezus slammed a Castro-Montes cross past a chanceless Castro (0-4).. The last chance of the game was for Yaremchuk but Castro saved KVO from a forfeit defeat.
