The home team started brightly but the first chance of the game was for the visitors. After some poor defending, Bero kicked wide of Hubert's goal from the turn. The home team responded with a quick changeover in which Ndicka just failed to find Bätzner. The next chance was again for the Coastal Boys. The strong Ambrose popped into the side netting from a tight angle. After a quick visiting flank attack, the lurking Bero popped the ball on the inside of the goal frame from 10 yards out. The home side was not left behind, as a sharp cross from Ndicka left Schubert flat, while the agile and quick Sakamoto kept the visiting defense busy. Just after the half hour mark, Dewaele, who had been kicked, was forced off with an injury. The visitors created a few half chances in the first half hour, but Hubert was not put to work. A goal-worthy attempt by Wittek did manage to sneak past an Eastern leg and into the corner. Just before half time Musayev, who had just stepped in, almost punished the visiting goalie for a mistake.
The first chances after the break were for the home team. The hard-working Musayev brought Ambrose into shooting position but his shot was parried by Schubert. The visiting goalie was again the saving grace when he whipped out a shot by Tanghe. At the other end, Vitesse hit the woodwork again after a rare move via Frederiksen. Apart from that one jab, the coastal team continued to create the most danger. Musayev kicked over hard after a wonderful combination between Bätzner and Sakamoto, but the striker was whistled back for offside. After a beautifully spun Oostende attack, Ambrose only had to tap the ball in, but he kicked over. The deserved Ostend goal came from D'Haese who nodded a corner kick past the goalkeeper in the second zone (1-0).. The 2nd goal followed quickly when Sakamoto headed a cool cross against the ropes (2-0). The substitute Patoulidis had a chance to score a goal after a quick changeover but he kicked just wide and the referee whistled for the end.
After a successful dress rehearsal, the Coastal Boys seem ready for the start of the competition
