HOW DID OUR INTERNATIONALS DO?

During the international break, four players from our world team were called up to represent their country. They were Freddie Jäkel, Nick Bätzner, Kenny Rocha Santos and Steven Fortes. In the meantime, all four are training again with the selection.

For our midfielder Bätzner, it was his second selection for Germany's U21. He took on Poland and San Marino for the qualification matches of the European Championship under 21. In the first match, the 'Mannschaft' lost by chance against Poland with 0-4. Things went a little smoother against San Marino. A simple 4-0 victory was the result. Bätzner was able to come on as a substitute in the second match after 60 minutes. Our other German, Frederik Jäkel, was called up for the German U20 team. As the U20 is not an official selection, they only play practice matches. Against France, Freddie played 90 minutes and they went home with a nice 2-3 victory. The second game against Portugal ended 1-1. Jäkel stayed on the bench in that last match.

Kenny Rocha Santos was called up for the national team of Cape Verde again. Steven Fortes was also part of the selection after an absence of some time. They played two qualification matches for the World Cup 2022 against Central African Republic and Nigeria. The first game resulted in a 2-1 victory. Rocha and Fortes were given a starting place and were not changed. The second game was against leader Nigeria. Cape Verde had to win in Nigeria to advance to the play-offs for World Cup participation but failed to win more than 1-1. That score was already on the board after five minutes. Fortes and Rocha both started, but are therefore not present at the WC 2022.
