JPL matchday 6 - OHL - KVO 2-1

In the closing stages, KVO swallows a sour and mostly avoidable defeat. Our Coastal Boys are thus left with 0 out of 9.

KVO brought Rocha and Hornby into the team at the expense of the sick Dewaele and Atanga. The opening quarter was completely KVO with chances for Tanghe and Albanese and also an immediate goal: Ambrose played Albanese free, who saw his kick caught by the goalkeeper but Hornby thanked him for his confidence by scoring his first goal from close range: 0-1.
The signal for OH Leuven to step up a gear but fortunately KVO could count on an attentive Hubert. He saved chances for Gonzalez, Al-Tamari and Mendyl. At the other end, KVO made a sharp counter but Bätzner saw his shot go over the post. After a fascinating game, KVO went into the locker room with a lead.

In the second half, our boys soon faced a cold shower. The Leuven newcomer Gonzalez was able to turn too easily and cleverly kicked in at the far corner: 1-1. The home fans were now shouting their players forward but it was KVO that came close to the 1-2. In the second part of the second half OH Leuven gave more gas and KVO found it more difficult. Al Tamari rashly hit the side netting but at the other end substitute Atanga also came close to scoring a goal. The Leuven goalie came to the rescue with a powerful reflex.
The game seemed to be heading for a fair draw but in the end the home team still managed to walk away with the victory. Loss of the ball by Atanga led to a counter attack and Mathieu Maertens finished eye to eye with Hubert. KVO tried in the six minutes of injury time to force a save, but it came down to a few crosses. A sour and particularly unnecessary defeat.

Formation: Hubert, Urhoghide, Tanghe, Katelaris, D'Haese, Albanese, Rocha (McGeehan), Amade, Bätzner (Sakamoto), Ambrose (Atanga), Hornby (Wylin).
