KV MECHELEN - KVO 3-0

KVO suffered an opportunityless defeat on the field of KV Mechelen. One goal in the first and two in the second half sealed Oostende's fate.

Debuting trainer Yves Vanderhaeghe saw in the opening half hour a strongly grouped KVO that did not give away any chances. But in the final quarter the Kustboys were struggling. Schoofs headed on the bar and Hairemans kicked wide but the third time was the right one. A fine collective attack was finished off by Mrabti: 1-0, also the score at halftime.

KVO started the second half well but was soon forced into a double deficit. Schved turned himself free and via Fortes' leg the ball went past Hubert into the goal. Moments later Schoofs sealed Oostende's fate with a world class goal. From 25 metres out he slammed the ball into the corner of the net: 3-0. KVO could threaten one more time through Ambrose but his shot was no problem for goalie Coucke. Final score, 3-0.
