KVO - CHARLEROI 0-3

An enthusiastic KV Oostende went down 0-3 at home against a very efficient Charleroi. The Kustboys start the season on a false note.

Coach Blessin had an almost completely fit squad for the first game of the season, only Mcgeehan (injury) was not available. Oostende started the game against Charleroi without any big surprises. Acquisitions Medley and Rocha both started in the starting line-up, Theate started on the bench.

Under the watchful eye of brand new acquisition Thierry Ambrose and 2700 enthusiastic supporters, KV Oostende kicked off their season in a promising manner. The Kustboys took control of the game from the first minute and that immediately created a number of chances. Gueye was unable to get a good shot off twice.. Like a bolt from the blue, the visitors took the lead. The first chance for Henegouw went straight into the net. After some poor defending from The ball ended up at Bedia, with a little punt he outsmarted Hubert and the ball disappeared into the goal. (0-1) The home side didn't seem too bothered, and less than a minute after the opening goal they had another chance for Gueye. This time the Senegalese striker's header hit the bar. On the half hour the Kustboys had an excellent chance to equalize. Hendry was allowed to kick the ball in, but the Zebra goalkeeper managed to keep the ball out of his goal with a cat-like jump. So we went into the dressing room with a 0-1 score.

Just after half time our well deserved goal finally seemed to come. Hendry took a corner and headed the ball past Koffi. The referee however disallowed the goal because D'Arpino's corner kick would have crossed the backline. Less than 5 minutes later our Kustboys got the lid on their noses: after a quick counter Zaroury kicked the ball next to Hubert into the goal (0-2). Charleroi got better in the game after their second goal and the dominance of Oostende became less and less. Because of this the game fell silent for a while and it was waiting for the next big chance. Some 15 minutes before the end, Indy Boonen was pushed down in the Hainaut area. The referee didn't give an inch... Just before time Kaymebe cut inside and popped the ball into the corner (0-3).which is also the final score.
A (too) heavy verdict for KVO.
