SPORTING CHARLEROI - KV OOSTENDE 1 - 0
Despite an encouraging performance in difficult conditions, Blessin's boys lose to the Zebras by the smallest of scores;
The first chance for the home side came on a snowy pitch, but Nicholson hit the well-executed Hubert. The visitors responded through Ambrose who hesitated too long and the ball was cleared in the corner. The resulting corner was headed just over the bar by Medley. The dangerous Nicholson played the ball into Hubert and on the other side Gueye had his shot blocked in the end. The home team threatened mainly through quick plays by goalkeeper Koffi, which caused unrest in the Oostende defence. However, the Kustboys did not let their guard down and tried to create danger through good combination play. For KVO D'Arpino kicked a free kick a metre over the home goal. On the half hour Nicholson had a free run at goal, but the Jamaican striker's goal was disallowed after VAR intervened for offside. Nicholson continued to wreak havoc on the visitors' defence, but Hubert made sure we took the rest of the match with just a glancing blow.
The first attempt after the coffee was for the home side, but Gholizadeh headed wide. Moriaka's effort sailed over an Orient leg and into the corner. The next chance was again for the home side but Hubert saved the visitors from going behind. Just before the hour KVO put their noses to the grindstone with a shot from Capon that troubled the home goalie. In a strong Oostende phase Ambrose attacked Koffi's fists and Bätzner hit the post. The home team took a somewhat surprising lead with 10′ to go when Bessile nodded the ball past Hubert in the first zone(1-0).. The visitors responded with a shot by Ambrose that went into Koffi's hands and a shot by Medley that went just wide. Despite the final offensive, the 3 points remained in snow-covered Charleroi.
