The Coastboys lose after a late goal with an offside scent of Standard.
For the game against Standard, Blessin made a forced substitution. The young Manuel Osifo took the place of the suspended Alfons Amade. Leye opted for the team that won against Beerschot.
In an atmospheric Sclessin, the home team started the game enthusiastically. The first chance of the game was for Klauss, but the Brazilian striker kicked high over the visitors' goal. He then headed a corner kick onto the top of the crossbar. The Oostende response was immediate with a falling header by Ambrose on the roof of the goal. Just past the half hour mark Raskin kicked the ball wide of the visiting goal for the home side. At the other end Theate headed a corner kick from D'Arpino wide. The next chance was again for the Coastal Boys when Ambrose saw his floater go wide. With half time approaching Sissako headed a Gavory free kick into Hubert's hands.
The first chance after the break was for the home side; after Eastern's loss of the ball, Donnum headed in Hubert from a tight angle and on the other side Gueye headed hard wide. Ambrose escaped but Bodart turned the danger away. After a nice Ostend combination Ndicka found himself alone in front of goal but Bodart saved the Liege furniture again. On a free kick by Siquet, Amallah kicked the ball over the fatal line (1-0) after a quarrel in front of goal (offside?).. In the closing stages Hubert saved a shot from Klauss and Theate got his second yellow card, which meant he was forced to take a shower.
