UNION - KVO 1-1

The Coastal Boys grab a point on the leader's field after a blood-curdling match! Goals came from D'Arpino and Undav, although the latter may have done so from an offside position.

A few substitutions at KVO compared to the previous match. Albanese, Medley and Tanghe came into the team instead of Duncan, Fortes and Jäkel who had to leave injured/sick. At Union, new Red Devil and former KVO player Siebe Van der Heyden was in the heart of the defense.

The game started with a very strange player at Union. Captain Teuma took a little dog onto the field. This was an action to benefit the animal shelter.
The Coastal Boys immediately started the game strong. Maxime D'arpino quickly brought KVO into the lead after a great kick that went a whopping 153 km/h: a world goal.
After the goal Union had more ball possession but did not create many chances. KVO was well organized and the Coastal Boys took a well deserved lead into the break.

In the second half the home team made an immediate change, Nieuwkoop stayed in the dressing room, Mitoma was his replacement. Under his impulse and that of the enthusiastic home crowd, the home team started the second half strongly. After a few minutes in the second half, Mitoma also scored but that goal was disallowed for offside. The chances kept piling up for Union. Medley had to clear a ball from Teuma off the line. The people of Brussels saw the ball go over the line, but without goal-line technology they could not be sure. Top marksman Undav missed a giant chance moments later. In between all the chances a streaker walked onto the field. This did not cause any confusion for the home team. Teuma popped the equalizer just wide, but in the 82nd minute, the goal was ruled out.ste The inevitable happened in the next minute. Union scored the equalizer through a header by Undav. The VAR was still in doubt about offside but no correct offside line could be drawn. So 1-1. Yet it was KVO that almost made it 0-2 but Sakamoto and Gueye could not get the ball over the goal line in the same phase.
In the end there was still a heavy offensive from the people of Brussels. In the extra time Scherpen had to make an important save. The Coastboys held on and grabbed a great point on the leader's field. If Seraing loses tomorrow, KVO is sure of survival.
