The Coastal Boys play a solid game but are left scoreless.
Due to injury, Capon dropped out in extremis while Ndicka also stayed in the sickbay. Duncan and Jäkel returned to the starting line-up. Up front, Gueye and Ambrose were to provide the goals. Schreuder, the visiting coach, had no selection problems and was able to field the strongest possible team.
The first chance of the game was for the Coastal Boys and this after ball loss in the Bruges midfield. Gueye's shot grazed the outside of the post. The visitors took the lead out of nowhere after a misunderstanding in the Oostende defense. Adamyan accepted the gift in thanks (0-1). The equalizer followed almost immediately when Jäkel kicked the ball past a grabbing Mignolet in goal in 2 times (1-1). After a second gaffe in the home defense, Adamyan tapped the visitors back into the lead (1-2).. The home team was upset for a moment but then restored the balance. Gueye brought the home team alongside but the Senegalese's goal was disallowed for offside.
The second half started with a nice action by Sakamoto who outplayed his opponent twice. This phase was not followed up because nobody followed up to tap in his center. It was mainly the home team that took the initiative and looked for the equalizer. However, the goal fell on the other side. After a Bruges corner kick, Skov Olson beat Scherpen (1-3). Despite the unfortunate goals the Coastal Boys continued to play well but escaped a fourth goal when Buchanan found nobody after an individual action. Lang, who had come on as a substitute, poked his effort wide and Rits saw his attempt deflected off the line. At the other end, Gueye and Ambrose were a constant threat but the finishing proved to be a problem again. In the final moments of the game Lang was able to get in front of his compatriot but the ball went wide.
Despite the defeat against Club, the Coastal Boys can look back on a solid game. Next week leader Union will be given a party.
