Contract extension through 2024 for Jack Hendry

Our Scottish defender Jack Hendry signed a contract until 2024. Our rock in the surf played until recently at the European Championship with the Scots.

Jack Hendry came over on loan from Scottish top club Celtic Glasgow last summer and he quickly grew into an absolute star performer in Alexander Blessin's team. He arrived with a bang by scoring the winning goal in injury time in his first game against KV Mechelen. That goal was immediately good for the first win of the season. In the referendum for 'Player of the Season' Hendry finished third, Sport Voetbal Magazine even recognised him as 'most regular player of the whole competition'.

KVO had an option to buy from Celtic and have now reached an agreement with Hendry on a contract extension through to 2024.

"At the moment I'm ready for a holiday after a long and gruelling season and then also the European Championships, on which we were unfortunately eliminated. Then I look forward to the future," said Hendry.

Jack Hendry was only the third KVO player ever to attend a European or World Cup. His predecessors are goalkeeper Pol Gernaey (Belgium, World Cup 1954) and Jordan Lukaku (Belgium, World Cup 2016).

Also Executive President Gauthier Ganaye is over the moon about this deal.
"Jack Hendry was an absolute leader last season and we are delighted to be taking him on permanently now. Following the incoming transfers of Rocha and Medley, this is another sign that we are fully engaged in putting together a strong core for next season. More news is sure to arrive shortly."
