Indy Boonen signs contract until 2023

Indy Boonen has extended his contract for two seasons. The attacking midfielder's contract expired, but he reached an agreement with KVO until 2023.

Indy Boonen arrived at KV Oostende as a 19-year-old in 2018. He came over as a great Belgian talent from Manchester United. As a young player he showed flashes of his great talent, but he didn't manage to get a place in the starting line-up right away.

Alexander Blessin's style of play suits him down to the ground and last season was to be his moment, but he was held back by a long-term injury. At the end of the season he came knocking on the door again - injury free - and in the Play-offs he showed his worth with excellent performances and two goals against Standard.

Gauthier Ganaye: "Indy was unlucky to be out for a long time last season with an injury, but in the Playoffs he showed his talent. Moreover, he is still only 22 years old, so he still has a lot of room for progression. Our way of playing suits him as well, so we are happy to keep him with us for two more years."

Indy Boonen: "I always felt good in Oostende and I wanted to stay here. I have the feeling the fans here haven't seen the strongest Indy Boonen yet and I'm eager to show myself to them. Especially now that we'll be playing with a crowd again, I hope to play myself into their hearts. I'm still only 22, but now I feel my moment has come."
