Christmas match at the KVO: NO PUBLIC

UPDATE:
Unfortunately we will have to do without our fans and sponsors again on Sunday and the stands in the Diaz Arena will remain empty. Supporters who bought single tickets for the match will be contacted by our Ticketing department. The fanshop will still be open this week on Thursday from 10am till 7pm and on Friday from 10am till 12pm.

KVO and RC Genk have a mutual tradition of matches being postponed: twice at Genk (1999 and 2014), twice at KVO (2017 and 2021). The 2017 edition - which was rescheduled due to a violent storm - was, like this season, the Christmas match. A match that always goes hand in hand with a lot of bells and whistles at the Diaz Arena, as will be the case this Sunday.

Unfortunately, the following communication is no longer possible...

Given the current weather conditions, the match will take place but hopefully with a crowd, says our COO Thorsten Theys.
"In these corona times, people need relaxation, especially during the Christmas holidays. Football can offer this relaxation in a safe way. The fans sit in the open air, they wear mouth masks... The Pro League has made huge efforts to maintain football with public and we as KV Oostende have taken those measures to heart. With us, you see few or no fans without mouth masks and everything happens in a safe way. It would be a pity if now, one day before the winter break, the decision was made to close the stadiums again. Please, allow the people to enjoy themselves.

It would be a pity if now - one match day before the winter break - they decide to close the stadiums again.

Of course KVO wants to offer fun on the pitch - matches against Genk are almost always a guarantee for spectacle, remember the 6-0 of a few years ago or the 3-4 of this season - but also off the pitch.
"Corona does not make it easy to offer many additional things to supporters and sponsors but still we try to create a total experience as much as possible. For example, unlike many other clubs, we offer still offer catering in our canteens and in full compliance with the applicable coronal rules.
Sunday's game will of course be all about the Christmas spirit: Christmas dancers, a A blitz performance by Sebastien - Alain of Preuteleute - Dewaele and a real special guest: none other than Arthur Theate. will be attending the match. In Italy there is no Christmas football so Arthur is in the country and takes the opportunity to visit his former team.

Theate enters the field - just as he did at his farewell at the end of August - to greet the fans

"We are extremely proud that he launched his career through KVO towards the Serie A and the national team and we want to give him a deafening welcome applause on Sunday. It would be all the more regrettable if that beautiful moment were to be spoiled by the decisions of the Consultation Committee. Again, a stadium in the open air where everyone wears a mouth mask is not a big threat. Let's enjoy one more day of football and then the league will be out of action for three weeks anyway."

So make sure you are in the stands on Sunday from 8.43pm for our pre-match programme !
